My Adventures with
Personal Stories of Working with Subtle Energies
Part of the meditation process is to learn how to turn off your "monkey mind" - you know, those streams of constant mental thought wanderings that are constantly on in your mind. The process of learning how to manage those streams or conscious thought are part of the meditation process. Eventually one improves the ability to manage one's monkey mind in meditation, and this then allows a person to go deep within, connect with "Source" (aka the Tao, God, Higher Self, etc.) or experience other dimensions with expanded experiences.
I have been reminded that in this world of upheaval and chaos, this same process is used to help us get through the chaos and noise in our everyday lives. Being able to learn how to turn off, ignore, or manage that constant flow and energy of strife, anger, hate, and separation, for example, is needed to help one get re-centered to help them endure the chaos and negative flow one can't control.
I was reminded how having an almost constant stream of this information is similar to our monkey mind. Just like we learn to control our monkey mind in our meditations, so too, we can learn to control the constant barrage of information and negative energies flowing in our daily life. As one learns to control this continual stream of outside data, one can also learn to develop and cultivate an inner peace and calm while still living and working in a normal day called life. their day.
But because a person needs to still be informed, aware, and alert, the challenge is being able to sift, sort, or know when to go in or out of that constant barrage of information.
It is as if we are now in the start of tornado season and can feel the angst and turmoil coming. Learning how to remain calm while everything around us may bet churned, pulled out, changed, broken, or destroyed - will be vital. After all, we know there are many tornado's being formed, all with the potential to uproot and change everything in its path. We also know it's going to be a bumpy ride. A VERY bumpy ride.
