My Adventures with
Personal Stories of Working with Subtle Energies
When John UK started the process of giving me lessons on spiritual development tools, experiences, and spiritual gifts, he would often pause and say, “How does it feel?” This line of questioning was repeatedly done throughout each and every lesson. That simple question, “How does it feel” was also a lesson unto itself. The redirected thought process of stopping and then focusing on my feelings reinforced the concept that information should not just be accepted blindly. With everything new you learn, you pause, assess, and evaluate how it feels before accepting it to be part of your life mantra and value system.
I had been raised as a Mormon and was taught if you seek information, you turn to the Prophet, or the local Bishop, or your father, or your husband. You then obey. It is called faith.
The Mormon church had originally been founded by a lad called Joseph Smith, who actively sought answers, was visited by angels and others from spiritual Beings, and also received spiritual messages (using a urim and thummin). He translated those messages into books (Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, Word of Wisdom). But in my day, this religion had become an institution where only men, and only a few men, could have the answers. The rest of us were expected to obey and follow. A religion that had originally been founded on being proactive in cultivating and using spiritual energy now no longer even taught or encouraged its use.
So when I met John UK, a spiritual Being and Teacher, his teaching approach to spirituality, seeking guidance, and learning was totally different from what I had been raised with. He expected ME to FEEL my way to the answer that was right for me. He expected me to tune in, get in touch with my thoughts and feelings, to question, and then feel the answer. This is when the lesson began, and is the basic foundation of learning to sense and relate to spiritual energy.
John U.K. would probe me in a way that would help me better clarify and define my thoughts and feelings. After each response, he would then have me go deeper into my feelings. His way of teaching changed the ownership and responsibility of learning from being passive to being one that was very active. I had the option to reject or accept every concept presented based almost entirely on my feelings.
Learning to value ones own ideas, thoughts, and solutions is a totally different way of orienting oneself to life. This helped me realize I had power and responsibility for my life and how I directed it. I was no longer just a passenger following the crowd. I had choices and could create my own life plan and journey.
The outcome I most appreciate from learning how to tune in and get in touch with my feelings, was the recognition and awareness I have a personal guidance system within me at all times. I can tune into my feelings, recognize the sensation, and then interpret the message anytime or any place. I now am able to more actively engage my built-in communication mechanism and am better at interpreting my internal messages. This helps me stay on a life course that is more aligned with my true life purpose and also reduces the "noise" from others who expect me to follow them.
From my point of view, learning how to go within, recognize and understand my feelings, and then how to use my feelings for guidance, has probably been the most important life lesson John UK gave me.
